What is Prismatica?
A panfandom sex-friendly sci-fi/fantasy RP game with elements of adventure/exploration/horror. Read the Premise for a full overview.
How did my character arrive here?
Short answer: No one knows. A giant floating crystal appeared and summoned outsiders from their universes and onto the moon Iris. Characters are gradually discovered and picked up by the Prismals and taken to their government center, known as Prisma, located on the same moon. They will then be safely flown to the city of Lunatia on the planet Prismatica. The Prismal government itself has no control over who arrives and believes the moons themselves are drawing in people from other worlds to aid them in their initiative. The locals have begun to call them the Moonblessed — otherworldly beings with a mysterious connection to the moons that watch over them.
What do all these words mean?
- Moonlacing: The process of collecting energy through intimate contact. See “What is moonlacing?” in the Chroma section of the FAQ.
- Moonblessing: A blessing given by one of the three moons, making one involuntarily transform under the moons. See the Moonblessings page.
- Moonheld: Those who transform under the moons but can’t produce Chroma. All Prismals are Moonheld.
- Moonblessed: What the Prismals calls the PCs due to their state of having pure Chroma in their bodies.
What is the initiative of Prisma's Government?
The government strongly believes in the betterment of Prismatican society through the acquisition and utilization of knowledge, and thus, it holds science and research as its main priorities. They are mainly trying to harvest enough Chroma from living and mechanical organisms to restore their colonies on Prismatica and rebuild their world after a cataclysmic event had destroyed most of it. What cataclysmic event, you ask? You'll have to play to find out more.
With the game's progression, more information has been revealed. Refer to "What is the Calamity?" below.
Why should my character stay in Lunatia? What if they leave?
Refer to the following:
► "Does my character have any incentive for aiding the Prismals? Why should my character help? Are they rewarded for contributing?"
► "What is the planet of Prismatica like?"
How could they most effectively and efficiently learn about this world and anything they might need to know?
Upon arrival, the scientists from the Iris moon government center will explain the basics and give them a detailed run down. They are all accommodating, patient, and are willing to take on their questions.
The scientists will also recommend enrolling in the academy's classes or redirect them to the Lunar Scientia to access their learning facilities. They may choose to attend their seminars or do research in the library. If they personally request NPCs for guides or tutorials, they could help speed up the process!
What is Chroma? Demichroma?
Chroma is energy produced by organisms from other worlds via moonlacing. Demichroma is energy manufactured from the crystals found on Prismatica and its moons. Detailed answers can be found in the Chroma section of the FAQ.
Does my character have any incentive for aiding the Prismals? Why should my character help? Are they rewarded for contributing?
Yes, they are always appropriately rewarded for each time they help!
The Prismal government rewards them very well financially for their aid and efforts and are vigorously working to develop technology to be able to send the outsiders back to their own home worlds safely. They need plenty of Chroma to further their research!
When a Moonblessed is first brought in, they are provided housing free of charge (their apartments) and their bills are taken care of by the government. The only thing they need to worry about is their own Chroma, as well as other basic necessities such as food and clothes.
They're paid in Demichroma after every mission and every piece of data that the Lunatians receive is always used to progress research regarding the truth about the Moonblessed and their own lost history. At the moment, the Prismals are still occupied with reviving their planet on top of researching the Moonblessed, such as finding out how they are sent here in the first place and how to send them back to their own worlds safely. Until these questions are answered, they are unable to make promises to be able to send Moonblessed to other worlds. However, in the future, they will not stop the Moonblessed from going where they wish to go. If they wish to go home or stay, that is up to them once the chance eventually opens up.
The Prismals are always keen to reward and celebrate the Moonblessed. In addition to earning their favor (leading to specific rewards such as opening new shops, receiving discounts, earning access to new areas, etc.), the Moonblessed positively affect their dying planet through their Chroma and saves it little by little.
Do the Prismals despise outsiders?
Not at all. They are kind, welcoming, and perfectly willing to work with them as the outsiders are a great source of energy for them. Only a few are deeply discriminatory and spiteful towards outsiders. However, this attitude comes from the fact they know so little about the Moonblessed. Some Prismals fear them and are wary if they can be trusted at all. Show them that you can be trusted, and you will be rewarded in return.
How do characters from other worlds understand one another?
By default, all arrivals will be able to read, write, and understand the common tongue and will have to actively switch to their own native tongues if they wish to speak it. It will require a degree of concentration while the common Prismal tongue will seem to flow out more fluently and naturally.
There is a separate, older language in Prismatica that very few Prismals can understand and that PCs will not be able to decipher as of yet.
Where can my character live? What are living spaces like?
All Moonblessed are given a small- or medium-sized apartment anywhere in Level 2 of Lunatia City (see the World page) by the city government for free. Some rooms are better than others. Others are worse.
Prismal interior design tends to have futuristic elements and moon and crystal motifs. Here are some examples: moon backdrop, moon rug, and moon lamps. Furnished living spaces will also follow these standard styles.
However, the Moonblessed are free to customize their rooms as they please! Each apartment is installed with a furnish panel — a touchscreen that allows you to customize your room however you like with Chroma. Additional furniture can be purchased in shops all throughout Prismatica.
If the Moonblessed save enough Chroma or Demichroma, they are also free to move out and purchase bigger homes within Lunatia City.
There is no housing page, so feel free to room with whoever you like and wherever you want!
Where can my character get new clothes?
There are two kinds of clothes in Prismatica: clothes made of tangible material, and Chroma-powered clothes called Chromawear. Chromawear transforms whatever you’re wearing into the clothing of your dreams. No Prismal leaves home without it!
However, Chromawear needs both clothes and Chroma to work. If you don’t have clothes, the Chroma can’t transform them, and if you don’t have enough Chroma, your clothes will turn back into their original form. If your Chromawear gets damaged, your clothes will sustain the damage when you transform them back to their original state. What we're saying is, please try to wear clothes. The Moon Knights can arrest you for public indecency.
Both tangible clothes and Chromawear can be purchased in shops all throughout Prismatica. You can access your Chromawear through the Chromawear app on your device.
Do the Prismals use money? What kind of currency do they use?
Chroma and Demichroma double as currency for the citizens of Prismatica. Think of it this way: they use electricity to buy food. Swipe your personal device at any shop’s chromareader to make a purchase. For more details, read about these in the Chroma section.
Can my character get a job? Does this job exist? How is the industry for this job?
Yes, but they’ll be paid in Demichroma. This is available as an option for those who prefer not to moonlace (refer to the Chroma section). Due to its inefficiency, the Prismals will encourage characters to produce Chroma together instead. Those who produce more Chroma will be wealthier and well off compared to those who work normal jobs.
Moonblessed may work in NPC businesses, listed or not. There's no need to get mod approval for this. Players are free to make up any NPC-run group or business to suit their needs. Characters interested in any kind of industry will want to look for an appropriate agency, organization, or company and start from the bottom.
Prismatica is an advanced world with endless opportunities. From the most common to the most unique jobs, they are likely to exist. All jobs existing in modern Earth can be found. Anyone can spend their days being a barista, media anchor, author, librarian, artist, or head of waste disposal if they so desire.
Other out of this world jobs will occasionally come up. These will be mentioned in events or can be brought in by players through suggestions, business licenses, or plots.
Characters will also be sent out on missions to explore the terrain or engage in experiments to test the limits of what Chroma can achieve, after which they will be rewarded handsomely in Demichroma.
Does being a Moonblessed have an advantage in the workplace?
With regards to career advancement, there's no difference between Prismals and Moonblessed. They both make progress the same way at the same pace. There is no such thing as special treatment in the workplace. Any Moonblessed aspiring to be successful in a particular profession would have no issue as long as they work hard.
There are no exceptions to this rule. Their merits and achievements from another world do not carry over in Prismatica. All Moonblessed must prove their worth and capabilities in the game in order to climb up the ranks. Join missions, help the locals, and work hard!
Can my character start their own business?
Yes, but it requires a significant amount of Chroma and support from the locals and the government. Players are required to purchase business licenses from the Ware Wolf Shop.
What is the planet of Prismatica like?
The planet has a central city known as Lunatia, which is where all characters will be living, working, and operating out of for upcoming missions. It is similar to the topography of Earth with mountains, lakes, rivers, forests, hillsides, four seasons, and recognizable weather patterns.
Though it seems familiar to most, the terrain holds with it many hidden dangers and can only be traversed to a certain point at the moment before the atmosphere becomes too toxic for outsiders. There are also several visible crystal formations near and around the city that serve as sources for Demichroma. A cataclysmic event in the past destroyed a lot of the planet in the continents beyond the one where Lunatia is located, so exploration is considered very hazardous. The continent on which the city exists is the largest and contains other small towns and villages nearby.
Prismals will warn Moonblessed about the outside dangers and discourage them from proceeding into hazardous areas, but ultimately will not stop the Moonblessed from doing as they please. If they proceed, they will eventually encounter many life-threatening terrains, powerful monsters, and gradually start feeling the effects of the environmental toxins. Players are free to assume the existing toxins but some examples include poisonous air, a thinning or lack of clean air, extreme radiations, acid rains, and countless more. These dangers are the primary reason why the Prismals allow the Moonblessed to stay in Lunatia, as it is one of the safest cities on the planet.
What is the city of Lunatia like?
It is a blend of fantasy and futuristic. You can check out the different city locations here. It is divided into several distinct zones with their own patron style. While the prison underground is maintained by the Moon Knights of Prisma, the rest of the underground is outside their jurisdiction and are operated by certain organizations that run counter to the beliefs of most Prismals and only seek self-gain. The upper zones are all protected and overseen by the knights who act as Lunatia’s police force.
What do the Prismals look like?
Fur-covered. Scale-covered. Fleshy. Depending on how much they are blessed by the moon, their appearance varies from looking human/humanoid to incredibly animalistic. Some are dark-skinned, some are light-skinned. They are mostly identified by crystalline accessories and the shimmering, prismatic flecks on their skin/fur/scales.
Can Earth history/lore/myths/fairy tales/books/etc. be found on Prismatica?
No. Directly analogous literature can’t be found, but stories with common archetypes exist and all with a free love aspect. Example: a sordid tale about a man (who has snake traits) who cannot be with his lover (who has urchin traits) because of their unfortunate circumstances so they must love each other in secret and from afar, which may assemble Romeo and Juliet from Earth.
What is the Calamity?
The Calamity is Prismatica's most cataclysmic historical event. It is what caused the planet to its current dreadful status. Two hundred years ago, the reformation efforts of Prismals started after the Calamity that destroyed Lunatia and beyond. A black-winged beast, the wrathful god Basti, was involved.
What kinds of information about Prismatica from before the Calamity is available?
There are no official records or studies on the matter, but many conspiracy theories written by Prismals can be found on Prismatica's version of the internet. A lot of it might be baloney, but the Lunar Scientia are still looking into the matter.
When either Lunatians, Amegaharans, or other locals are asked why they will explain all records were either lost or destroyed due to the Calamity's catastrophic events. Future events will tackle this subject. Until then, no one knows.
What about after the Calamity?
As of February 2020, the public is able to access the Lunatian Archives where old world manuscripts and tapestries depicting various beasts and legendary battles from after the Calamity are proudly displayed in several exhibit halls.
These are ancient records from varying timelines after the Calamity, so these include history about how the remaining nations in Prismatica came together. Many of these tell how the survivors rebuilt side-by-side after losing everything they had.
Countless devastating issues rose after the planet's near destruction, so there are several materials on how the Prismals came to live on, including the eventual development of Demichroma. The Prismals had to find new ways to protect themselves and adjust to the wastelands. On top of ruined ecosystems, many frightening beasts and mysterious mutations continue to ravage the earth.
Many mysteries still remain even for the Prismals as their ancestors either had no means of preserving their treasures (as they could barely preserve their own lives back then) or they perished in the Calamity and its terrible aftermath.
Monsters, beasts, gods and so on that have appeared in past events will be available to view or read at the archives. There will be unfamiliar ones as well, but unfortunately, we will not be talking about unreleased information in detail as the game plot and progression plays a huge part in them. Please look forward to future developments.
Are there any cultural events themed after the Calamity?
“The Encircling of the Three Moons” or simply referred to as “The Encircling” is traditionally done every thirty years. It is a ritual done to rotate Lunatia and its mechanisms to face the three moons, and a task that only the Lunatian royal family is capable of.
Armed with a magical flame in one hand and a sword in the other, a member of the royal family reenacts both halves of the monumental battle between Basti and the Moon Knights through the dance. Aside from that intended purpose, it is also done to honor their history and inspire their people.
The Encircling was recently performed so it will not be seen again until another thirty years. However, books and videos will be available for research and viewing. It is a popular element in local songs, plays, dramas, and so on.
Can my character travel between Lunatia and the moons? What are the moons of Prismatica like?
Yes, there are no restrictions on travel between Lunatia and the moons for the Moonblessed.
The planet has three moons, only one of which is fully visible at a time while the other two are obscured by the night sky. The surface of each moon is crystallized and generally barren or uninhabitable except for the moon government centers which have been modified to support daily living. The air is breathable, but there is a distinct lack of plants and animals for eating which is why cargo ships regularly fly to and from the planet, Prismatica.
Specifics about lunar cycles can be read at Moonblessings page.
Is there an observatory? Are there star constellations and other celestial objects?
Yes, there is. The observatory offers scenic tours of the sky around them and have overnight stargazing facilities in special well-equipped rooms. The lights of the city do not interfere with stargazing so high up.
There are many stars in the sky! Most of the constellations are named after local gods or powerful beasts. Some of the brighter stars were said to have been used as guides in ancient times.
Other celestial bodies such as colorful nebulae may be seen with specialized telescopes. Planets however, cannot be seen due to their great distance.
Books and other reading materials mention other planets and other celestial bodies beyond the galaxy; though it seems there are massive gaps in information due to the Calamity. The Prismals hope to recover this data in time and perform deep space explorations in the future. But for now, they're focusing their resources on keeping their planet alive.
Do Prismals believe in fortune-telling and horoscopes?
Yes, many of them do! Fortune-telling and horoscopes are popular in Lunatia. There are apps available for them and frequently appear in media such as television programs or newspaper articles. Fortune-tellers have also made appearances in past events and there will be more in the future!
Do spirits exist in Prismatica? Can my character speak with them?
Yes, spirits exist! To characters who can sense spirits, those who possessed strong moonblessings in life will appear as their respective animal (or hybrid of animals), and will not communicate with human speech. Those without strong moonblessings will appear as human spirits, and those that fall somewhere in between will appear as humans with animal traits.
The ghosts spiritually sensitive characters can communicate with are fairly mundane and offer little important insight, unless they consider obtaining things like complete unabridged teachings of peanut shell removal important. Ghosts who were unhappy in life or died a bad death will not communicate normally: they may appear suddenly and attempt to spook them, or leave behind ominous signs, but they will not engage in conversation. There will also be certain times in which Prismatica will be more affected by beings such as ghosts, but generally, various things in Prismatica tend to act up during the moon cycles, spirits included.
Is there a cemetery? What happens to the Moonblessed and Prismals if they die?
Yes, there is a cemetery. Refer to the "Solemn Grounds" under the World page. Details for a Prismal's death can be found here.
Characters can certainly learn of the Solemn Grounds from books and the Prismals themselves, but it is generally off-limits to the public outside of special occasions. It will only become accessible during specific events.
For the Moonblessed, refer to "What happens if my character dies in game?" under the Mechanics section.
CHROMA
What is Chroma?
Chroma is an intangible energy source found in organisms, be they living, robotic, or otherwise.
All beings in this universe have Chroma, but it is only the Moonblessed who are capable of producing them through moonlacing. The Moonblessed also possess an extraordinary amount of Chroma compared to Prismals.
The Prismals and other organisms (animals, plants, monsters, aliens, etc.) in this universe only possess a set amount of Chroma in their bodies, which if taken away, will cause them to die permanently.
No one knows why the Moonblessed function the way they do or why Prismals are incapable of producing it. The Prismals are hoping to use Chroma as fuel to restore Prismatica.
How does my character make Chroma? Why is making Chroma a good thing? (What is moonlacing?)?
Characters initially arrive with small quantities of Chroma that can be amplified over time through moonlacing. Moonlacing is any form of physical intimate activity, e.g. holding hands, touching, kissing, hugging, sex, etc. Moonlacing with other Moonblessed feels absolutely incredible. It constantly puts them at the height of pleasure, and often it will leave them wanting more. This pleasure is not necessarily sexual. For example, hugs may just feel warmer and more comfortable than usual if you would like to avoid writing your characters in sexual situations. However, for those who want to give their characters a push, moonlacing can be used to work in their favor. A little hand holding can go a long way!
As the amount of Chroma increases within a person's body, so do certain benefits. With great quantities of Chroma, technology is able to advance more rapidly, more exploration is possible, and changes and powers tied to a character’s moonblessing is also gradually amplified.
Harvesting Chroma happens as it is released into the atmosphere by Moonblessed and collected in specialized mechanisms in Prismal territory.
Does moonlacing require skin-to-skin contact?
While moonlacing does not require direct skin contact, it does require one party to be held or touched by the other. You can't use a fake hand to moonlace unless the fake hand is actually a prosthetic attached to your body!
Does moonlacing have to be consensual?
Yes, so long as it is mutually exciting!
It doesn't necessarily have to be sexual; non-sexual sensations such as an adrenaline rush will count as well. Example situations of the latter include mutual wrestling or sparring. It is important to note that such cases produce lesser Chroma than an act of intimacy done with affection.
However, if anything is done with the intent to hurt, it will produce no Chroma. Abuse, obviously, won't count at all!
What happens when my character runs out of Chroma?
Just as Chroma can be increased, it can also be depleted. Using too much of one's power as in battle will leave characters Chroma-starved, and they will need not medicine, but a moonlace partner. Something as simple as a kiss can power up a character or repair minor wounds and abrasions.
Because of this, there is a popular tale/custom regarding kisses exchanged before battle in order to ensure each warrior would return home unharmed.
How else can my character run out of Chroma?
As Chroma serves as energy for Prismatica's magic and technology, it also serves as energy for the Moonblessed. The Moonblessed will naturally use up Chroma in small amounts as they go about their daily activities. More strenuous activities (e.g. running a marathon, casting powerful magic spells) will deplete more Chroma.
Yes, your Chroma is the equivalent of HP/MP/Stamina all at once. Without Chroma, you can't be conscious, can't cast spells, can't use special abilities, and so on.
Can my character bankrupt themselves by draining all of their body's Chroma?
No, they will not lose finances by depleting their personal Chroma (on their body/their "mana bar").
By moonlacing, they generate Chroma to not only heal/recharge themselves, but cause the Chroma🌑️Meter on their personal devices to rise!
The digital currency in Chroma🌑️Meter is separate from that of the character's body/personal Chroma. This digital currency only goes up unless it is specifically spent, such as swiping it for purchases, trading it, or depositing it. These transactions are all done through the app. The government has developed the app this way to positively benefit the Moonblessed, as every Chroma they generate is slowly saving their planet no matter how it is used. Refer to "How does my character know how much Chroma or Demichroma they have?" below to read more about Chroma🌑️Meter.
So a Moonblessed can completely exhaust themselves without fear of their Chroma🌑️Meter's Chroma count going down.
Where does Chroma go? How does Chroma affect the planet?
It is a mix of being absorbed by the world and also through the Moonblessed's own activities. It can be either-or. Ordinary movement such as running or exercising burns and releases energy for the planet or anything to absorb. Moonlacing falls under this category.
Using special abilities or casting magical spells also burn Chroma but rather than being released, the energy is converted to power the ability/spell instead and disappears. This is why moonlacing is important!
Chroma is powerful and is known in past events to occasional mishaps. However, it is not inherently bad. These are all positive signs that the planet is regaining life little by little, so the public is simply advised to stay on their guard at all times. No one can predict what might rise from the earth next, so the best protection is self-awareness. Both Prismals and Moonblessed are encouraged to immediately report anything strange to the Moon Knights.
What is Demichroma?
Demichroma is an energy source manufactured from crystals found on Prismatica and its moons. It is half as potent as Chroma, so you will have to work hard to make as much energy as someone who engages in moonlacing. However, the use of Demichroma is not sustainable because harvesting crystals drain the life of Prismatica and its moons.
Is it possible to store Chroma in crystals to use later? For example, as a way of restoring a person who is Chroma-starved?
Chroma is a very potent energy source and not even the Prismals understand all its ins and outs. There is no way currently to store Chroma through crystals as it would cause them to explode. Any Chroma that the Moonblessed make is absorbed into the Chroma-starved surroundings. One way or another the planet needs it! At the moment, Chroma is only recorded virtually and functions as virtual currency. Refer to "How does my character know how much Chroma or Demichroma they have?" below for details.
Demichroma, on the other hand, is less volatile and is able to be stored and encrypted to be used as currency. Shops around Lunatia sell crystals and other devices that facilitate Demichroma transfers. Withdrawing funds physically from the bank means they give you stored Demichroma, which they can use to gain a small amount of energy (not enough to restore someone) for their bodies. Moonlacing is still king for your currency and energy needs.
Can these storage devices be used as "batteries" for a Moonblessed? How easy would it be to transfer Chroma or Demichroma in and out of accounts/devices/people that characters might try to make use of?
For security measures, the USB drives and chips used for large Demichroma storage and transfers are made of highly encrypted crystals. Hackers and practitioners of magic alike will find them difficult to crack. The Demichroma sealed within the devices is impossible to absorb physically.
Readily available Chroma or Demichroma may be acquired via moonlacing (Chroma only), working (Demichroma only), or withdrawing from your local bank. At the bank, Demichroma is withdrawn and stored in crystals and not encrypted USBs or chips, allowing you to use them anytime. As there is no technology capable of holding Chroma physically at the moment, they are transferred virtually.
What are the currency and conversion rates? Give me the math!
Chroma (🌑️) is the primary form of currency. Demichroma (🌓️) is also a feasible currency for Prismals, but is half the value of Chroma. For example, 5🌑️ = 10🌓️.
On a normal day, 1🌑️ = 2🌓
When one of the moons are in the sky, 1🌑️ = 4🌓️
How is Chroma earned as money?
Chroma is earned through moonlacing of any sort. The more a Moonblessed partakes in Moonlacing, the more Chroma they earn (though they can also earn Demichroma through regular jobs!)
For example, hand holding will earn 5 Chroma (fingers threaded earns 10), kissing on the forehead/cheek earns 15, hugging earns 25 and it increases with each form of intimacy up to full on coupling, as well as the effects of the moon. These aren't definite values, but they should be able to give an idea! The value of each moonlacing action increases with the intimacy behind it!
How does my character know how much Chroma or Demichroma they have?
Everyone's personal device has a built-in app for measuring the amount of a Chroma inside a person's body or the amount of Demichroma they own. This app is called Chroma🌑️Meter or C’M for short.
This app takes stock of how much each character has produced and converts that into virtual currency. Chroma and Demichroma may be deposited directly at banks or online through the app on their device. Transactions are primarily handled through it too, using it to transfer the funds to the vendor or into banks for saving.
All transactions are recorded via the device and monitored by the government. To undertake illegal and unsanctioned purchases, funds can be loaded onto a chip or a USB-like device to transfer these in secret.
Are pets brought in from other worlds affected by Chroma?
Chroma may affect other world pets positively, but they do not need to moonlace and do not produce Chroma when held. Other world pets are also not affected by moon cycles.
A few examples of Chroma application with them include healing their injuries, temporarily staving off their hunger, or generally soothing their conditions.
Is there a stock market?
Yes, there is! The city's stock market is called Lunatia Stock Exchange (LSE).
Other major cities also have their own stock markets, but LSE is the most influential one on the planet. The main currency exchange is Demichroma-based.
TECHNOLOGY
How advanced is the technology?
In Prismatica, magic and technology are considered one in the same. The world is a blend of advanced, futuristic machinery and magical artifacts, all of which run on Demichroma and Chroma. Things like toilets, showers, televisions, the internet exist side by side with alchemical potions, enchanted amulets, magic scrolls and the like.
Are there wall outlets? Is Chroma or Demichroma harnessable, and is it possible to charge a device brought in from a different world or my character's own world?
There are no wall outlets. Instead local devices (such as smartphones), lights, appliances, furniture, etc. contain energy chips within them.
All power is provided by Caelus Tower, it's responsible for harnessing and transmitting all the Chroma and Demichroma to said chips. These naturally flow around the city after being converted, so as long as they're within the city, items which have energy chips will be able to benefit anywhere if there aren't any emergency shutdowns.
If your character wishes for a device from different worlds or their home world to work, they would have to buy energy chips from a store (a hardware or technology store should have them). The NPCs are capable of helping your characters install it on their tech to have it functioning.
How do characters communicate with one another over the network? What apps are available?
Each new arrival is given a specialized communication bracelet they can equip on their forearms or anywhere they prefer. It’s flexible and fully customizable. It is capable of text, audio and video.
Each comm unit has its own personalized inbox as well as full access to the internet and various other standard applications like a weather app, lunar forecast app, music app, social media apps, dating/hook-up app, calculator app, dictionary app, and so on.
Some important apps to note: Chroma🌑️Meter (see Chroma section), Chromawear (see Setting section), Prismaps (GPS with directional guide features; only works within the city), Prismagram (image and video sharing; network posts end up here), and CrysTalk (messenger app; details in private messages).
Your technologically-inclined characters are also welcome to create apps once they understand the technology enough.
Can they send private messages to one another?
Yes, they can. Aside from all devices coming equipped with a personal inbox in a messenger app called CrysTalk, players can send encrypted messages to one another that other players won't be able to read. However, the government will be able to read anything that is marked private as they like to keep close tabs on everyone to protect them, study them and identify if there is any open dissent.
Can my character create multiple accounts? Can my character change their username?
Yes. Characters at any time may:
- create multiple accounts, much like we do!
- change their usernames, as these act similarly to display names.
ICly, there is no limit! However, should any of these be done for criminal activity or hiding anything suspicious, these are the only times the Prismals will start displaying concern.
Can my character make anonymous posts?
Yes, they can. They are allowed to choose their own handles, and only the Prismal government would be aware of their real identity. To everyone else, they can masquerade as whoever or whatever they want.
Can they hack any devices or government files?
There is a very secure firewall on all important government and personnel files that will require a special enchantment to breach. As mentioned before, technology and magic are one in the same, so characters who may be technologically gifted in their world, will have trouble breaching the firewall without magic. That isn't to say that it's not entirely possible, but it just takes a more congregated effort between the magical and technologically inclined.
To what extent can they hack?
As technology in Lunatia is powered by science and magic, there may be mechanisms they will not understand. They will have to study both fields before they can successfully modify and hack particular machines around the city. There's a lot of complex code and mechanisms at work because it not only incorporates very advanced technology but there's also high-level magical enchantments.
When hacking, every attempt will be confronted by very literal firewalls that will keep them from going any further than what the Prismals will allow him to see. Dispelling is not easy, and even when successful, they will only be able to learn surface-level information, such as info on criminals in the Lightless, info on the current and past Moonblessed (with OOC permission), business licenses, records of who was in office since the Calamity up until now, etc. Trying to go beyond that might upload a fail-safe virus to their devices and brick them. They will have to repair those!
Can my character own multiple communication devices?
They may only have one of the provided communication devices, but they may purchase different additional ones for high fees down the line.
What kinds of transportation exist in Prismatica?
Clean-energy cars (aircars) and motorcycles (skybikes) that run on Chroma; a city air rail network that runs through the main three levels of Lunatia; shuttle pods (buspods) capable of flying; and short-distance hoverboards/hovercrafts/hoverskates to name a few. There are also flight routes for the Pegasi used by the Moon Knights! For travels outside of Lunatia, there are larger road vehicles, hover transport vessels, planes, and ships (both naval and aerial).
Prismanodes also exist within Lunatia. They are terminals that have access to a city-wide transport network for quick warping access. The nodes allow someone to transfer from Point A to Point B almost instantly. However, taking a prismanode is more expensive in the higher levels of Lunatia. It can only warp from one node to another, so you can’t teleport to places without a terminal.
Aside from banks, what safe deposit boxes are available to use?
Your character may purchase different kinds of safes at appropriate shops. There are many technological safes (such as portable vaults or larger safe boxes for homes) that provide high security for important or precious items.
Many of these also come with an app compatible with communication devices to be able to monitor their status anytime.
What are the specifications of trash cans? How is the city waste handled?
There is a recycling center located in the Lightless (Level 4). Swiffy bots also roam to keep the city clean. These are state-of-the-art robots that ensure excellent service and they are well-equipped to handle disasters such as fires.
Garbage, composting, and recycling bins around the city are as advanced as everything else. These bins have in-built sensors to be able to detect incoming waste material and sort these accordingly.
The bins are also installed with automatic compactors to reduce mass as well as wireless technology which allows Swiffy bots to be notified when the containers are nearly at max capacity.
Do sex toys exist?
Yes, they are very plentiful. For aphrodisiacs, refer to the Smut section.
How is the gaming scene?
There is a massive library of games available in Lunatia alone. The gaming industry is constantly booming, so there's no shortage of games of different genres coming out almost every month.
What is League Match Action Online (LmaO)?
LmaO is an award-winning VR MOBA boasts amazingly seamless first-person view graphics and a real-time combat mode almost as authentic as real life and guaranteed to wow and amaze. Players can explore and immerse themselves in the fantasy world of LmaO, where they can create their own avatars and either fight with or against players from Lunatia and the Kingdom of Lyestellus for glory and loot!
It is available to play anywhere with the right VR gaming equipment, such as the gaming hub in PrismaPlace or Elaran Amphitheater.
What kind of game modes are available in LmaO?
In co-op mode, you will be battling a selection of huge beasts chosen at random. The most notorious among them is Ogma the Dread Ogre, who has high defense and pesky unavoidable attacks.
PVP mode pits you against other players, and getting KO’d three times in a row or having your base captured is a loss for you and your team.
Fun mode featuring mini-games such as virtual basketball, rhythm step action, beat sword, and many more.
Winning any of these modes nets you loads of in-game gold that can be used to buy aesthetic skins, cute in-game pets, fun game emotes, furniture for your in-game house, or weapon and skill upgrades to make you stronger for the next round!
How is the battle system? How realistic is the VR experience in LmaO? Can you moonlace in VR?
Weapon choices are currently limited to any melee and ranged weapons you'd find in an ambitious fantasy RPG setting (read: you can find dual swords and grimoires but also gunblades), including an elemental magic system of water, fire, wind, earth, dark and light.
The more you get hit, the more your physical body shows visceral reactions to the attacks. Outside of the game, you lose balance. Bruises appear out of nowhere and mar on your skin. You earn minor abrasions and bleed.
It’s possible to feel the sweat or saliva of other players or bots, the sensation of their virtual hands grappling you, or their teeth sinking into your shoulder as they bite. It's a new, tantalizing world of virtual stimulation. This means it's possible to moonlace and earn Chroma in LmaO, but there may be circumstances in particular events wherein it's not possible. These will be specified.
My character is handicapped/is physically ill/has missing body parts/etc. Can they feel anything from the VR experience?
Yes! You may assume the VR equipment has the right sensory receptors or technology to make it possible.
How customizable are LmaO avatars? How do we learn new skills or develop abilities in LmaO?
LmaO has fantasy-based races! Examples include humans, elves, ogres, half-beasts, dwarfs, etc. These are all available for customization, as long as they're humanoid enough to hold weapons and wear clothes.
Your LmaO avatar may or may not coincide with your character’s actual strengths and weaknesses. Normally, their appearance depends on your character's IC choice. However, in specific events, there will be instances where it is a choice decided OOCly.
Your LmaO avatar will NOT have access to your character’s original skills and abilities. By leveling up or interacting with the environment, they will gain and learn new ones. For example, cooking for the first time in the game will unlock Cooking Level 1. By cooking more, they will be able to improve their cooking level.
Adventurer is the base class and can gradually be promoted. Depending on their actions, the character's skills and abilities will be affected. For example, if a character spends a lot of time developing their sword or dagger techniques, then they can qualify for upgrades related to blade-wielding classes. Similarly, reading books or practicing magic will strengthen their spell-casting classes.
Outside of battle tournaments, are there any other contests in LmaO?
Yes, there are plenty! These range from in-game cooking contests to real-life cosplay competitions! If it's a large enough event, esports channels tend to livestream these.
FLORA AND FAUNA
Are there any animals kept within the city?
Yes. They range from normal animals found on earth to hybrid creatures and fantasy beasts.
Aside from various nature reserves and farms, the Prismals like to keep pets found just outside of the border of the city and protect them from whatever lies in parts unknown. The animals have a crystalline sheen to their fur that shines beneath the moonlight.
The animals are generally edible. As with all ecosystems, some species are more edible than others.
What about outside the city?
The animals outside of the city are far larger and more dangerous. Dire wolves and bears can be found deep within the forests. Dragons are often spotted flying high above the mountains, guarding certain flowers that have long attracted the curiosity of the Prismals. Other wild creatures have previously appeared in past events. Many more will appear in the future.
Like the animals within the city, the wild animals also have notable crystal growths on their fur. Some of the animals might even have blessings of the moon themselves and could house a deeper consciousness at their core. Who knows?
No, not all these animals are edible. Smaller animals such as fish and game might be safe, but we don’t recommend eating the dragons. Characters are free to try, though.
Are there animals on the moons?
Yes, but they have adapted to live in extreme environments and feed on crystals to remain alive. They are more noticeably covered in diamond-like shells, fur, and scales. These animals are not at all suitable for eating.
Can my character adopt any of the outside animals?
They can try! But the animals aren't quite friendly as they are wild, and unless your character has a natural affinity for communicating with them, they'll likely bear their fangs before they lick their palms.
Are there pet stores, animal shelters, or adoption centers?
Yes. Please refer to the Greatmoon Groves in Level 2. Moonblessed are allowed to take in as many pets as they wish, provided they are able to properly take care of them.
How are the animal accommodations within the city?
Many cities across Prismatica are friendly to animal companions, so it's easy to find living spaces that have accommodations for them. In Lunatia, well-equipped stables and other comfortable animal homes are available in the Greatmoon Groves. There are also housing plots available for purchase that have yard space for larger pets.
How long does it take for plants such as trees to grow?
While it normally takes years for a tree to reach maturity, plant life in Prismatica grows quickly thanks to Chroma, especially that from the continued moonlacing of the Moonblessed. For example, a tree that takes 10 years to grow on Earth will only take 10 weeks on Prismatica.
Can Euphemia seeds from the Ware Wolf Shop yield more seeds?
No, these will not yield any more seeds. Each purchase of Euphemia seeds comes with 5 seeds inside the pack, which will produce at most 5 flowers. To yield more seeds, the flowers would have to grow and be pollinated in their original habitat due to complications related to the planet's condition. Unfortunately, this area can only be accessed by Prismatica's local dragons at the moment.
How will foreign or unique plants from another planet fare in Prismatica soil?
Because the planet is still in its recovery stages, planting rare flora (such as the local Euphemia flowers or canon-specific plants) is a challenge. Similar to the case of Euphemia flowers, plants from another world will not yield more seeds and can only be cultivated once. Characters would need to buy more Dimensional Orbs from the Ware Wolf Shop to get more seeds in the case of canon-specific plants or anything of similar rarity.
How about in the case of common plants? Will growing and harvesting ordinary flora be an issue?
Common flora is not affected as they adapt more easily to the local soil. As a result, they flourish without issues and can be harvested multiple times, especially with Chroma from moonlacing. Ordinary flora is basically anything common from modern-day Earth. Refer to "What kinds of food and drink are available in Prismatica?" below for examples.
What is the plantlife like outside the city?
The plants outside the city such as those on the moon, much like the wildlife, generally tend to have a prismatic sheen on the surface and crystal shards growing out of them. The aforementioned flowers that grow in the mountains are believed to provide some kind of fertility, but no one has managed to confirm as they are kept well-guarded by the dragons. Some of it is perfectly edible. Some of it has unpleasant side effects, like hair loss, nausea, diarrhea, erectile dysfunction, lowered libido, increased libido, dry mouth, lip sores, rotting teeth, dizziness, hallucinations, numbness, depression, etc. Eat at your own risk.
What kinds of food and drink are available in Prismatica?
Common food items and ingredients such as roses, lavenders, potatoes, apples, beef, lettuce, and so on can be readily found in the markets. If it's everyday foodstuff you can easily find in a grocery, then you can find it here.
However, anything considered rare, such as those more specific to one's own world (i.e. butterbeer from Harry Potter, paopu fruits from Kingdom Hearts) would have to be obtained through the Ware Wolf Shop.
ORGANIZATIONS
What are the education levels at Lunatia Academy? What are the school system and structure like?
It completely covers all levels: preschool, elementary, middle school, high school, college, and graduate.
It is very close to the education structures found on modern-day Earth. School clubs, student organizations, and so on are all similar to modern-day Earth. The only difference is the fantasy elements found in Prismatica such as subjects related to magic or combat.
What kind of courses are available at Lunatia Academy? Are there magic classes?
Please refer to the World page to see an idea of available courses. This is a basic gist and you are allowed to be more specific as long as it makes sense for the setting.
Magic would be mentioned in relevant subjects (such as science and mathematics) or if the topic comes up in others. For example, magic may come up in chemistry or physical education. It does have its own distinct subject as well with magic as the primary focus.
Are there school uniforms?
Uniforms exist but are optional to wear. Just like the rest of the game, they have an 80's aesthetic. You may choose your own uniform as long as they fit within the theme. Here is an example.
How long does it take to finish a course at the academy?
The duration can be up to the player as long as it's reasonable. Depending on the complexity of the course, it might take a considerable amount of time. For example, a medical-related degree would take several months to a year in general.
What benefits do characters receive from attending school?
Naturally, characters who spend more time at the library or the school or those who pay attention to the local news would have more awareness than those who don't. Information that may be learned from these may be anything located on the FAQ (such as topics about Chroma, flora, fauna, technology, magic, locations, etc.) or anything discovered from past events. This doesn't mean they'll miraculously become more powerful than someone else. Some examples of gained advantages would be knowing better map directions, knowing the names of creatures in events, a better understanding of their moonblessings, and so on.
What is expected in order to earn a license or degree? What kinds of things can I expect or handwave?
The requirements for pursuing a license would be similar to the requirements of modern-day Earth. We encourage our players to assume these kinds of topics themselves. As long as they're not game-breaking and isn't out of place for the setting, then it will be fine to use or assume!
Are there any requirements for becoming a teacher or a professor at the academy?
Becoming a teacher or instructor at the academy would require being at least a Fellow of the Lunar Scientia. In order to earn this certification, they can take a short course that can be handwaved. How long and what this course is can be a player choice as long as it has relevance.
They can also start out as teacher-assistants which require no certifications and the Prismals are happy to let the Moonblessed speak about their world and share their knowledge.
What kind of government do the Prismals have?
Prismatica is under the rule of a technocratic government with a residing leader known as the Magister Scientiae and the Moon Knights who serve under the Queen and uphold the peace in Lunatia and its surrounding territories. The Queen, currently Queen Elara, is a public figurehead who once took a more vital role as ruler before such matters eventually fell to the position of the Magister Scientiae, currently Magister Scientiae Alcmene.
The Lunar Scientia functions as the legislative branch of government, coming up with laws and driving research in Prismatica. They are led by the Grand Scientist Mayar, renowned for being able to turn theory into reality, bringing them into immediate practicality.
☾ Ranks of the Lunar ScientiaThe Moon Knights function as the judiciary of Prismatica in charge of keeping law and order. They are led by the Knight Captain Natela, a famed warrior known for her aptitude in wielding Chroma offensively.
Grand Scientist: Leads the entirety of the Lunar Scientia and is the second most powerful person in Prismatica under the Magister Scientiae.
Chancellor: They are expected to lead their teams in producing high-quality work to revive the planet, understand the moon cycles, the effects of Chroma, etc. Others formulate laws and pass them for approval to the Magister Scientiae.
Docents: The skilled members of the Lunar Scientia are in this rank, and they usually have their own specialties.
Fellow: Regular members of the Lunar Scientia.
☾ Ranks of the Moon KnightsCan my character join the Moon Knights or Lunar Scientia?
Knight Captain: Leads the entirety of the Moon Knights and is the second most powerful person in Prismatica under the Magister Scientiae.
Commander: Divided into Sword Commanders and Scroll Commanders. Sword Commanders are extremely skilled in combat and while Scroll Commanders are judges.
Officers: Officers are higher ranked and have more authorization. They can get involved in more sensitive investigations compared to regular Knights which handle easier cases, requiring them to have high combat experience and knowledge on law. They lead Knight units and are expected to swiftly take charge and control any troubling situations.
Knight: Knights are rank and file members of the Moon Knights. Anyone among them is a Knight. In terms of authority, they have the power to write citations, conduct arrests, and jail people. They're expected to have combat proficiency and be good model citizens and keep order in their communities. At times, they're also involved with paperwork and documentation relating to criminal cases and investigations.
Yes, characters can become Moon Knights (and indulge in their Sailor Moon-esque fantasies) if they have a sufficient amount of training and swear fealty to the government of Prisma. Prospective Moon Knights need to pass both a physical and written exam, as they have a knight handbook to study and learn by heart.
On the other hand, Lunar Scientia does not require training or prior knowledge in the world's science or magic, but characters will not be given anything classified and moving up the ranks requires one to take an aptitude test that will determine your promotion or demotion. Time to hit the books!
How do I earn promotions as a Moon Knight or Lunar Scientia personnel?
Moonblessed will need to earn the trust of the NPCs to rise up in the ranks. However, as with all things, this takes time. No one becomes a captain in a day. How long this will take is up to player discretion so long as it is plausible for the character.
There is no official page to reply to for this, and all aptitude tests are handwaved. The lowest barrier for entry for both Lunar Scientia and Moon Knights is 15 years old.
What kind of training do the Moon Knights have?
Prismal Moon Knights undergo various weapons and magic training. This option is available to the Moonblessed if they are interested in learning particular weapons or schools of magic. There are no strict weapon guidelines for the Moonblessed, but Prismal Moon Knights are encouraged to master at least two types of weapons and one school of magic.
Do Moonblessed that become Moon Knights need to live in the Moon Knight Headquarters's barracks?
It is not compulsory to move into the barracks, but Moonblessed may ICly choose to do so. They may remain in their apartments or any living space they might own.
The same guidelines apply to the dormitory at Lunatia Academy and any other similar situations.
Do the Moon Knights and Lunar Scientia personnel have uniforms?
Yes, they do have standard-issue uniforms. Like school uniforms, their uniform guidelines are flexible.
Can my character join with a disguise?
No. Moon Knights Headquarters, Lunar Scientia Headquarters, and all other government buildings have both magical sensors and high-tech scanners installed in their security systems, so the staff will be able to tell who's wearing a disguise.
Can my character run for office?
Yes, they can become foreign ambassadors and diplomats and argue for rights on behalf of the outsiders provided they receive majority support from the other PCs.
How long would it take to get an entry-level position in the government? At what point could the character advance to the level of a foreign ambassador, provided they're supported ICly?
The process would take a three to six months ICly, with characters having to undergo a competency test to showcase their general skills and knowledge (no specialized test required). Then there would be an interview and observation period where you would be placed in a government team. Once you have shown that you can be trusted and behave in a suitable manner, then your character would be an ambassador. All of this can be handwaved!
CRIMES
Can my character stage a rebellion or impart some violence on one another?
Yes, that is allowed, but there will be consequences. Prismatica comes fully equipped with a prison underground (The Lightless) for all who break the law and hurt either Prismals or outsiders. The Moon Knights also carefully monitor all the upper-level zones and will interfere if there are any public skirmishes.
What is the Lightless?
The Lightless (Level 4) is an underground prison meant for the locals but any Moonblessed who commit a heavy enough crime or have accumulated too many petty crimes will be sent there as well.
How do characters gain access to the Lightless?
A legal permit can be properly obtained if there is a legitimate reason such as applying to visit someone or if it's work related. While illegal permits are possible to obtain and forge by nefarious means, the chances of being able to enter with them are low and characters with these permits are more likely to eventually get caught. Be prepared for consequences!
Lastly, officially becoming a Moon Knight will earn the authority to go down there anytime.
What if characters publicly get involved in a fight? Would they end up getting arrested by the Moon Knights?
If it's a minor fight on the street without involving anyone and out of the way, the Moon Knights will try and mediate. They will try to convince them to stop fighting before they become a nuisance or an accident happens. If they do stop, then there's no arrests. Refuse, and they'll probably get a ticket.
If it's a major fight and things are getting destroyed/properties are breaking/people getting hurt, then this is the only time they'll make a direct arrest without needing to warn or give them a ticket.
They are usually held in prison to cool off (the length of time dependent on the amount of damage they have done) before being released.
Can characters pay bail to leave? How expensive will it be?
Bail can be paid by either the character themselves or by any friends, allies, acquaintances, etc.
If they need to make Chroma in a pinch, they are welcome to try moonlacing inside prison. Conjugal visits are allowed! Reminder that it would have to be with a fellow Moonblessed, otherwise moonlacing with Prismals would produce much less Chroma! Refer to "Can my character have sex with any of the Prismals/NPCs?" under the Smut section.
If they have enough Chroma to pay the bail themselves, they'll be released with no hassle and the funds automatically deducted. As for the costs, an example is the more damage happens during the fight, it'll be more expensive. Hurting people will also cost more than property damage.
Is it possible to break out of prison?
Attempting to escape is allowed, but once caught, there will be consequences.
Do prisoners keep their communication devices?
Prison inmates are allowed to use communication devices to contact people during visiting hours if they ask for permission. They will be monitored closely and given a time limit.
Can my character hurt or kill event NPCs?
Killing event NPCs are only permissible if it's done out of self-defense. Killing them without being provoked or without displaying life-threatening hostility is grounds for punishment, and the perpetrator may wind up being taken to the Lightless themselves if they are caught by the Moon Knights.
Example situation: In this event log, there are roaming pickpockets and the Oracles of the Sinless. In this case, if the roaming thieves resort to violence and are proven dangerous, they're allowed to be hurt or killed out of self-defense. But if they just want to steal something and run, then it's not advisable to kill them. Meanwhile, the Sinless is outright kidnapping and hurting the Moonblessed, therefore, it is allowed to hurt or kill them.
Can my character sneak in or break into Lunar Scientia?
Yes, but they'll only be able to reach the common offices and laboratories with lighter security and fewer guards. Nothing out of place will be found and all known information (FAQ and events so far) are all consistent with any files lying around.
They'll inevitably find and/or run into complicated security systems. High-security areas will be able to instantly detect the use of any type of special abilities and magic. There are also numerous full-body scans throughout the building (doors, walls, floors, equipment, toilets — literally anywhere) which will immediately sound the alarms upon detection of unauthorized personnel.
Once apprehended by the Moon Knights, they will be transported back to Level 2 or wherever they currently live after getting a stern talking to. They will also be told that if they wish to access any higher levels, they need to go through the proper channels and education. No one is stopping them from officially joining Lunar Scientia!
Can my character sneak in or break into the royal castle in Greatmoon Groves?
Yes, but there's nothing suspicious in the castle. It's just a normal residence for the royal family. The Queen might invite them for tea before Moon Knight Captain Natela chases them off. Queen Elara is trying to sleep, please stop bothering her!
Nothing of concern happening in and around it, either. Occasional gossip may float around but they're likely to be mundane or small issues related to either everyday or event topics.
How many liberties can my character take with criminal activity?
Depending on the scale of the crime, you may freely play out most small-scale scenarios. (i.e. robbing some NPCs at the streets or breaking into one apartment) However, anything that will affect a considerate amount of people (whether they're NPCs or players) or a large area of the city (i.e. robbing a whole bank or breaking in a public mall), then these kinds of plots will require mod permission. You may submit any of your ideas at the Mod Contact page to have them checked over and approved.
Are there organized crime rings or underground groups?
Various mafia groups hold influence over Caihong, with Umbris having the most influence. Their vast information network allow them to keep an eye on the entirety of Caihong. It can be hard to track them down as even the Moon Knights and Caihong residents are never able to tell who is a mafia member or not. Players are free to opt out of mafia involvement as much as they are free to opt in.
There is another organized crime group called Eclipse which appeared in a previous event. Their leader, Janus, is currently under custody in the Lightless along with his goons. Other groups may appear in future events!
What information can my character find out from low-level mafia members?
While Eclipse is far more notorious among the general populace, Umbris' top guns are still at large, as they have yet to be identified. Even if a character captures a lower-ranked Umbris member around Caihong, they won't know anything of value due to their tight-lipped nature.
Information from captured low-level members of crime groups will only lead to finding other low-level members. It is possible to find and capture low-level leaders, but it is difficult to get information out of them, as they have never seen the faces of the higher ups, nor are they aware of their location. The higher ups of a crime group are often only referred to as their boss, though this may vary among groups. High-level bosses of crime groups will only appear during official game events.
Can my character start their own criminal organization?
Yes, the Moonblessed are allowed to start their own organizations no matter their nature. OOCly, the only requirement is needing a Business License from the Ware Wolf Shop. ICly, the process is up to you.
Can my character join the mafia?
It is currently impossible for anyone to contact an Umbris member with significant influence. NPCs would generally warn Moonblessed about Umbris and dissuade them from joining the group. However, they would not actively stop them as they are afraid of getting involved.
It is possible to join the other local criminal syndicates, but it is incredibly difficult to rise in rank. Not all of the Prismals trust the Moonblessed, especially not the darker syndicates. The Moonblessed would only be allowed to sign up as common goons if they manage to find a contact, allowing them to join in mostly small-time operations.
Is it possible for a character to run into any kind of interaction or trouble from Umbris?
Yes, if a character hangs around Caihong long enough during the wrong time! This can also be expected if they run a business in Level 3.
If you wish to have this kind of NPC interaction, it is up to you! It wouldn't be frequent and it would just be Umbris small fries trying to get some clout. These small fries do know how to fight but they're not that strong. They can easily be kicked off or reported to a Moon Knight so they can be dealt with. Since they're small fry in the scheme of things, nothing significant would really happen in terms of retaliation.
For those with businesses, they'll send pesky threats or attempt to pose intimidatingly outside the shop with a bat or a gun to ward off customers.
What happens if a character kills someone from the mafia such as Umbris?
Unless the killing counts as justifiable self-defense, those involved in the murder will be immediately investigated by both Umbris and the Moon Knights. They will treat the case more seriously if the corpse was treated with disrespect or destroyed.
While Umbris isn't so united that its members would actively seek revenge, some who were close to the victim might attempt to do so. They might try to ruin the lives of those involved for a while by attempting to kill them or their friends, breaking into their apartment to steal or destroy some things, or spreading malicious rumors about them to affect their reputation around the city. However long this will go on is up to you.
What can be found at the black markets?
Illegal drugs, banned weapons, confidential information regarding businesses and VIPs, connections to suspicious businesses, and anything else similar you'd find in modern Earth's black markets.
Unique to Prismatica's black market are illegally hunted or captured creatures (dragons are highly sought after), illegally obtained crystals (that can be refined to create demichroma), and both alien and Prismal trafficking. Aliens are as rare as Moonblessed, and we will leave the existing species up to the creativity of our players as long as they are in line with the game's setting and lore and follow the game guidelines.
What kinds of drugs exist in the black markets?
As always, we leave minor details like the drugs available in the world up to the players as long as they are in line with the game's setting and lore and follow the game guidelines. It's safe to assume any counterparts from modern Earth exist in Prismatica.
CHARACTERS
I have a question about apps and what sort of characters are allowed!
Please refer to the Application FAQ & Guide page for more information.
Can my character keep their powers?
Yes, they can so long as it's nothing cataclysmic. We will ask you to use discretion and power your character down as necessary if they possess anything to the degree of creating and destroying whole worlds or traveling across dimensions. If they can fly, they will only be able to reach certain heights and certain points outside of the city before the atmosphere becomes too unbearable and toxic for them to breathe. If they can teleport, they will only be able to teleport as far as directly outside of the city or to the government center in Prisma before they are stopped from progressing due to toxic miasma.
If you have any concerns, feel free to ask here or in your app. We’ll scale anything game-breaking accordingly!
I nerfed my character, but can they regain these powers in the future?
We currently do not have a power regain system in place, but characters may develop something similar (but not exact) to their disabled or nerfed powers using their new moonblessing traits. Refer to "Can characters experiment with new spells?" below.
Note that they will be unable to regain their former strength or any disabled spells or abilities.
Can characters experiment with new spells?
Yes! It is possible for magically-talented or gifted characters to experiment and form new spells within Prismatica, provided it follows our guidelines on the Moonblessings page. For example, if they are Iris, then they may only have access to Electric/Lightning-based spells in addition to or inspired by (but not exact copy of) their canon abilities.
What about in the case of tabletop OCs?
This would wholly be dependent on which system you are coming from and whether you are at the level cap for that system, as a lot of higher level spells are not accessible in Prismatica due to their nature. If so, please proceed to the Canon Update page to learn these new spells. All learned spells, if they are not already listed on the app you submitted, require a canon update.
Can characters grant other characters powers, provided that they have the ability to do so?
Unique magic specific to a canon can ONLY be cast by characters from that canon and CANNOT be taught to others. (e.g. Final Fantasy's Blue Magic) The only exemption is if a character is canonly able to pass on or share their abilities with others, then it's possible to do so here. Just keep in mind any canon restrictions (such as inherent traits or skills) that may prevent a character from learning new abilities.
In all other cases, if it's native magic from Prismatica, then characters will be able to teach these to others. Examples that fall into these are the Moonblessings (i.e. Iris' Electric magic) or spells that are learned or accessed within the game's events.
We suggest taking advantage of the lunar cycle in which the other character's moonblessing is active. Since moonblessings can grant magical powers, that may give them the magical aptitude they need without having prior magical history!
My character can access/steal/copy/etc another character's ability. How will this be handled?
We are willing to allow this provided proper permissions are made beforehand and reasonable limits are in place.
For characters who able to steal or copy abilities, they can only execute these a few times before needing to renew. More powerful or more complicated abilities will be more difficult to obtain and will cost more Chroma to use.
In addition, once a character is dropped, they will completely lose access to that character's abilities. If the character returns, new permissions must be made in place, especially if a new player is involved.
My character has a power that is derived from a source absent in Prismatica but present in their own world. How will this be handled?
Generally, unless the strength of their power relies on their proximity, characters may keep their powers as long as the source still exists in their world. However, communication with the absent source (e.g. deities) is not possible.
My character is a seer or has prophetic abilities. How will this be handled?
Seer abilities and prophetic dreams are acceptable if the information has already been OOCly revealed at the event and is done with discretion. This means they will not be able to predict every detail clearly, but vague details or hint-like tidbits are completely okay.
My character is capable of hearing, feeling, or sensing the planet's condition. How will this be handled?
They will hear nothing but a distant beautiful albeit melancholy melody of crystals.
How will necromancy be handled?
Necromancers are not allowed to permanently animate or revive Prismals, player characters, and other sentient beings with complex thought processes. No fresh corpses can be controlled or converted.
However, we are willing to allow a certain limit. Necromancers may only temporarily control of existing walking dead or zombie characters. This means either applicable Moonblessed (with proper player permissions beforehand) or existing NPC zombie monsters in events. The type of applicable Moonblessed may be discussed among the relevant parties to see if they are comfortable with playing this out.
Otherwise, necromancy in Prismatica can only affect the corpses of animals, familiars, plants, and those of significantly lower intelligence. Wild organisms, hostile monsters, and anything else of that nature are allowed to tamper with a reasonable limit. Necromancers may control up to six targets.
Note that it is illegal to practice necromancy in Prismatica because of its taboo nature. Anyone caught tampering corpses will be sent to the Lightless. They may attempt to practice this in secret, but there will be consequences when caught.
How are summons, pets, or anything in this nature handled? Can I replace my summons or pets?
For app-related questions regarding summons or pets, refer to the Application FAQ & Guide.
If the summon or pet has a physical form and has been brought into the game upon apping (via inventory slots), you can no longer freely replace this. In order to replace a used slot, you would first need either a Dimensional Orb (ordinary pets) or a Super Summonrock Chalk (magical pets) from the Ware Wolf Shop.
If the summon or pet has no physical form (i.e. unable to materialize), we require these to be mentioned on the app as they are considered part of the character's magical abilities. Failure to mention these and using them in the game will lead to a warning. We handle and check over every character's abilities and skills upon apping in as this is how we process if any of them require appropriate nerfs.
In the case of the summon or pet abilities/spells/etc. being able to be changed canonically, we will allow it with the same limit of six. In order to prevent abuse of this feature, we will ask our players to submit an appropriate canon update to formally change their abilities. This is to exercise discretion and not repeatedly change them as this defeats the point of having a limit of six slots. Anyone caught abusing this will receive a warning.
What if my character has injuries/wounds/fractures or needs medical attention upon arrival or canon updating?
We leave this up to player discretion! The character may either arrive fully healed or still injured. If they arrive injured, scientists from Lunar Scientia can heal their injuries right away.
What if my character died in their canon?
They will be alive, fully functional, and able to provide Chroma.
If the character is canonically undead, then they will be brought in undead and remain undead if that is their status in their current canon point. They are only revived if they have died in canon and the character is not canonically undead.
The Prismals have no explanation for how or why the undead were brought in but are eager to learn if and how they can control the mechanism to save their own people from death. The Prismals will have a hard time forming a theory on this topic because they do not have an idea of how other worlds work, especially as every one of them works differently.
What if my character has a handicap/disability/special diet/other extenuating circumstances?
They will have full health benefits and be able to access Lunatia’s vast medical services and specialty food stores for any supplies and treatment they might require, be it medication, wheelchairs, artificial limbs, blood pills for vampires, etc. Characters can have whatever is needed to make their lives easier and accessible.
All locations on Lunatia are made for people of all kinds due to how the bodies of Prismals shift and change because of their moonheld physiology. Feel free to work with this as necessary! Their apartments will be accessible to their needs without needing to spend Chroma unless they'd like to adjust them according to their own tastes.
With regard to vampires, they will also have access to special medication to be able to function around in daylight, but it is entirely dependent on the player how sensitive they want to keep their character to the sun. Please let us know if you have any other specific concerns!
What if my character is a robot/squid/super intelligent piece of cutlery?
It's up to you whether you want to keep them in that form or make them human/humanoid.
What if my character's height is impossibly tall?
All characters are capped to the height of a standard double-decker bus.
What if my character shares a body, has multiple/split personalities, or can't be physically separated from another character?
This depends on several factors. This also depends on a case by case basis. We would need details regarding the canon and these characters before being able to specifically answer.
If Person A and Person B are completely different people (i.e. each with separate solid backgrounds) despite sharing the same body, then it is possible to app them independently. If so, they may each be apped with a separate body of their own.
In the case of a split personality, then Persons A and B may be apped together as one character. Alternatively, if the player prefers it, they may disable the other personality completely and only play one of them.
ACTIVITY
What are the requirements to pass activity?
Each month, you must submit EITHER ONE of the following:
► 3 log-style comments
► 5 network-style comments
TDM and inbox threads all count towards activity requirements.
How are activity checks conducted?
Activity checks will be done at the end of every month, 11:59 pm GMT via our permanent Activity Check page. All relevant information can be found there!
Are there any bonuses for extra activity?
Yes! Submitting extra activity will net you some hefty in-game prizes and even more so for submitting smut activity. Please check the Activity Check page for more details.
I failed an activity check and got swept. What happens now?
You are always free to app again! But if you fail AC twice, you will receive an informal warning. If you fail AC three times, you will be issued a strike.
MECHANICS
How is arrival handled? Is the TDM canon? Where are the event logs?
Yes, our TDM logs are canon. Therefore, if you have any TDM threads, you may consider that as your character's arrival if desired. Once you've been accepted into the game formally and have access to the communities, you are allowed to post in them.
Our game logs are always posted under the official tags: !tdm and !events. Instructions are specified within the posts.
In addition, every month, we put up a new plotting post for player communication. This tag is: !plotting.
What happens to my character if I need to go on hiatus?
Characters can either go on auto-pilot or enter into stasis and be crystallized until you're ready to return. Loved ones can visit the characters in stasis and view their bodies on display in a gallery with nice, tranquil music playing. Lore-wise, the character is returned to their world to reset and/or stabilize their Chroma reserves.
Can I canon update my character?
Yes, you can. Refer to this page for the guidelines.
What happens if my character dies in game?
Characters start to crystallize shortly after they die and will remain in there for a minimum of IC two weeks for a character to awaken. OOCly, you may forward-date your logs and threads to prevent any issues with AC.
They will then awaken from the crystal with a residual side effect causing their heart to slowly turn to crystal, numbing them gradually to pain, pleasure, happiness, sadness, etc. with each death, so beware!
If a character dies, can someone (like a loved one or companion) move their body?
Dead crystallized bodies may be moved. A Lunatian government employee will collect the body if it is not taken care of by another Moonblessed. Players may handwave that their crystallized body was well cared for. Prismals love their Moonblessed and will do everything they can to make sure they recover (their Chroma) safely.
What happens to my character if I drop?
A character's entire form gets sent back to their home worlds. Why does this happen? The Lunar Scientia can only come forward with theories, but that's all they are — theories. They don't know much about the Moonblessed themselves. They didn't even know of their existence until recently! Any terms and information related to the Moonblessed were only coined and discovered last March 2019. They're not responsible for the Moonblessed's appearance; they only rescue them whenever more of them appear on moon Iris.
The following are the current leading theories on the Moonblessed disappearances:
► The Moonblessed didn't produce enough Chroma to persist in this universe and something happened. Only the gods know what.
► The Moonblessed were summoned elsewhere by the moon gods. Only the gods know for what purpose.
Don't fret! They keep tabs on all the Moonblessed who appear so they would notice if one of them vanished mysteriously. If another character files a missing person's report for said dropped character, they would be told that it is very likely that they are returned to their home world. They will be informed that some Moonblessed come back, so their friends might return someday.
Can I re-app a character I dropped?
Yes, you can, but you will have to resubmit the reserve and application during the next app round.
Are Test Drive Memes canon?
It is entirely up to you if you want to keep them canon or not. Thus, anything regarding character interactions and memories involved, please communicate with others and decide among yourselves if everyone involved prefers to remember it or not.
How does time move?
1 OOC day is equal to 1 IC day.
Specific details about time, the lunar cycles, and events can be found in the Calendar page.
SMUT
Psst. So I heard there was sex allowed in this game?
You are correct. Just lock up the post, thread, or log, slap on an appropriate warning, and let your freak flag fly high.
But how will my character have sex if they are not predisposed to it?
There will be plenty of opportunities in the game that will gently coax characters in that general direction. Think of us as RP lubricant for your needs.
I can’t work with my moonblessing at all. It’s too much/too little. Please help me!
We leave it to the player to interpret to what extent they would like to implement each trait. We will not be providing further traits, as we encourage players to get creative with how they personalize their characters' experience.
With regards to Cordis, for example, the player may interpret amorous as anything ranging from "seeks out lots of sex" to simply "makes awkward attempts at flirting". Similarly, self-indulgent can be taken as "seeks gratification of sexual urges they never knew they had" or "wants to eat entire tubs of ice cream". The term moonlace as much as they can can also easily be taken as "have sex as much as they can".
Just as smut isn't mandatory to the game, the sexual traits aren't either. You may choose to opt out of moonblessing features that involves sex.
Does my character get to bang one person or many?
Bang as many other characters as you'd like. The planet thrives from all the bangs, so the more the merrier, but if you would rather your character be monogamous, that's cool, too. Prismatican culture is one of free love — the Prismals love as many as they want, whoever they want, however they want. The Moonblessed are free to do the same.
Is sex mandatory?
Not at all. If you want to keep everything to PG hand-holding, that's up to you.
Can my character have sex with any of the Prismals/NPCs?
Yes. You can handwave sex with them if you desire, but the Chroma output would be a lot less than it would be that with other Moonblessed since Prismals don't produce any Chroma at all. Also, it doesn’t feel as good.
How does Chroma production between Moonblessed partners and Prismal partners compare?
Chroma production between the Moonblessed is very powerful! The Chroma they produce together within a single minute could potentially power a car for a whole day or an entire week, depending on their actions.
Meanwhile, Chroma production between a Moonblessed and a Prismal is so minuscule, it could take them at least a week or more to equal the same amount.
Can my character get pregnant and/or impregnate someone?
No, all characters brought in from other worlds are rendered sterile. The Prismals aren't sure why this happens but believe it is to facilitate Chroma production with minimal risks.
Can my character get STDs? Will they have any need for condoms, etc.?
No, for the same reasons listed above.
What kinds of aphrodisiacs are available outside of events?
There are plenty! Products such as sildenafil (viagra) may be purchased from pharmacies or adult shops. Some food may also be consumed to achieve a similar effect; a few examples include ginseng, maca, or chocolate.
Stimulation devices may also be found in adult shops. These range from physical stimulation such as toys or perfumes to visual or auditory stimulation such as mood VR rooms, voice files, and so on.
Perfumes include cologne or anything similar. These items will only affect the user. Cheaper brands will last less than an hour while more expensive ones can last an hour or two.
For significantly more powerful and long-lasting aphrodisiacs, there are obtainable ones in the Ware Wolf Shop. The items available in the Ware Wolf Shop can also affect multiple characters.

With regards to your second question, we accept historical Figures as long as they're played according to their canon's representation rather than relying on historical incidents alone. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and Hamilton would be perfectly acceptable as long as they are played from the adaptations rather than history.
